Rev. Dr. John H. Young, Interim Principal of Emmanuel College.

I am pleased to announce that the Board of Regents of Victoria University has approved the appointment of Rev. Dr. John H. Young as Interim Principal of Emmanuel College from August 15, 2021, until June 30, 2022.

Rev. Dr. Young earned his B.A. from Mount Allison University and his M.Div. from the Atlantic School of Theology before completing a Ph.D. in the History of Christianity at Southern Methodist University. He was ordained by the United Church’s Maritime Conference in 1978 and subsequently served in several congregational ministries. In 1991 he joined the faculty of Queen’s Theological College at Queen’s University, where he taught in the areas of History of Christianity and Pastoral Studies until 2016, and served as the Head of Theological Studies from 2011 to 2015. Since the spring of 2016, Rev. Dr. Young has been the Executive Minister, Theological Leadership, in the United Church’s General Council Office. For the past five years he has also been a member of Emmanuel College’s Advisory Committee.

Rev. Dr. Young brings to Emmanuel College a longstanding commitment to teaching, scholarship, and ministry, and a deep understanding of theological education and institutional administration. Prof. Michelle Voss Roberts will continue as Principal of the College until the start of Rev. Dr Young’s term.

Please join me in welcoming Rev. Dr. Young to the Emmanuel College and Victoria University community in his new role as Interim Principal.

President William Robins, Victoria University
